Allen, TX, January 17, 2012: No Magic, Inc. President and CEO Gary Duncanson was awarded the prestigious Patriot Award, in recognition of his support of the U.S. military and his policies of supporting and hiring veterans for the company. The award is given by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Defense Department agency, to recognize businesses which practice leadership and implement personnel policies that support employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve.

But Duncanson wants more.

He is challenging businesses across the U.S. to hire veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, who he hails as ‘men and women of honor’ who are responsible, accountable and get things done. Duncanson was nominated for the award by Benjamin Moreland, a No Magic employee, Naval Academy graduate and Lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserve.

Retired Army Colonel J.P. Hogan presented the Patriot Award to Duncanson, and U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson presented the No Magic CEO with an American flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol. The Allen-based technology company is located in Johnson’s Third District of Texas, and the Congressman also urged employers to strongly consider military veterans for job openings as the economy continues to improve.

“We do not often hear the stories of the support system behind our Armed Forces whose sacrifices and action allow our brave men and women to continue serving America,” said Rep. Johnson. “It’s great people like Gary Duncanson who are the unsung heroes.”

No Magic is a veteran-owned, privately-held technology firm. Its modeling, simulation and analysis software solutions are utilized by a number of government agencies and defense contractors. Members of Duncanson’s family are also currently serving in the U.S. military.

“As the saying goes, ‘you can either stand behind our troops or feel free to stand in front of them’,” Duncanson said when accepting the award. “The work ethic of our men and women in uniform is what the American economy needs today to grow small business, attract more international trade and make ‘MADE IN THE USA’ mean something again.”
